Our Valentine’s Day party is usually not attended by parents so I always like for the activities to be quick, easy and fun. Since the classes are half day I stuck with around 5 activities I’m sharing with you here.

We get the party started by decorating plain white treat bags for all the loot that would be exchanged! This would allow for the children to be occupied while others were arriving.

I like to grab the traditional Valentine’s festive colored markers and stickers for the table (pastels along with pinks purples and red) and have the children select from that to make the treat bags really pop!

Set up at the children’s cubbies if possible and have them to take turns filling their classmates bags. I usually did this at snack time or during free play so those that finished early could easily transition over to this activity before grabbing a book on the mat.

To keep the party from slowing down we play a couple rounds of musical hearts. It’s exactly like the musical chairs version only we use heart shaped sticky notes on floor.

During our free play time the children also have the opportunity to make bracelets for their friends. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you with cereal being the “bracelet”jewelry” it was the most popular center of the day! All you’ll need is loop cereal and pipe cleaners.

The Marshmallow Race

Using straws and mini marshmallows the children play in pairs as they blow through the straws to get their marshmallow to the other side of the table other children cheer as they wait their turn.

Since 2020 I have also included a minute to win game it with marshmallows and chopstick due to health concerns but this one is still the most highly requested.

Mrs. Valentine

You can shake things up by heading right into our fan favorite, Mrs. Valentine

You’ll need a poster or chalk or white board and markers and a blindfold, masks will work in a pinch too! I’ve done both and they both work great!

Blindfold the children gently turn them around once and allow them to pin Mrs Valentines’ lips to her face. For variation: You can have the children pin on her heart shaped locked to her neck.

I always wrapped the party up by giving everyone a Valentine’s day treat.
